Emma is from the Sliema Letting Branch and one dedicated, fun-loving young professional with a brilliant sense of humour as you will see from our interview with her.
She has art and creativity in her blood, coming from a long line of very well-known Maltese artists. Her passion for art, fashion and real estate is evident: she made a prophetic prediction at a very young age that she will be an estate agent one day and this dream has materialized big time! Her lust for fun, her wisdom and creative flair all underscores her motto in life to do your best and to have fun while you are doing it.
Emma is also passionate about music and dance and somewhere in her DNA there must be some Latin-American genes, as she cannot resist the beat of a good reggaeton or salsa: we think she is the perfect candidate for the Maltese version of Strictly Come Dancing. Shall we suggest it to MaltaTV? We sat down with her to see what she’s all about:

Who is Emma in 100 words?
My friends think of me as an extreme extrovert with a happy-go-lucky personality that loves life and everything it has to offer. Apart from working as a letting consultant at Frank Salt for the past 8 years, there’s also a creative side to me that translates into many different things: from dancing and art to makeup and in fact anything to do with fashion.
Fashion is where I am at my happiest and where I feel free to express myself, to see colours and visualize what I imagine and to create something. It is the perfect opportunity to just let go and be myself. I also have a great love for travel and for good food and in my free time I’m always up for meeting my friends and family. I really enjoy their company and always make them laugh since I am known as “the joker” in the room. A big part of my life is also Frankie, my French bulldog, who has filled my heart with pure love and that means the world to me.
What can you tell us about your background and your family?
I was brought up on good morals and values, to be polite and to respect people around me, especially my elders. I was taught from a very young age to always be there for your family, whether times are good or bad. Coming from an extremely large family (from both sides of my parents) is fun, especially at Christmas when we all come together and enjoy one another’s company.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents’ house (from my mother’s side), which is the reason why I am so close to my grandmother and was even more so to my late grandfather. I loved him dearly as he was like a father to me. Being a dentist as well as an artist, my grandfather taught me how to draw and paint: he was the one who encouraged me to explore my creative side.
On the other hand, I also inherited an artistic streak from my father’s side of the family…his great grandfather was Giuseppe Calì, a famous Maltese artist who happened to be my great-great grandfather. Having learnt such a lot from my grandfather is something I will treasure forever. I am very proud to be part of such a creative and loving family and I know that they will always support me, no matter what!
Do you have any hobbies or pursuits you like to do or follow in your time off?
Dancing is my number one hobby. It is where I feel free to enjoy what I love doing most. Then there is walking, taking Frankie out, art, makeup, shopping and anything to do with fashion…I am a BIG shopaholic!
Tell us about your past work experience…
I have always been in sales and this helped me to grow, so much so that it eventually encouraged me to take a huge leap forward and join the world of real estate. After all, it is something that I have always known I wanted to do!
Firstly, I love meeting new people from different parts of the world. I also like being honest and professional, to see exactly what clients are after and then to find them their new home. It is very satisfying! Closing a deal thrills me, as it exciting, fun and very rewarding.
What attracted you to join the Frank Salt Team?
I recall at a very young age – at this time my parent’s farmhouse was for sale – Frank Salt’s agents brought some clients to view the property. I then proceeded to tell the agent that when I grow up I will be an agent just like them! When the time came to take “the big step”, it wasn’t easy at first, but with me eventually taking the risk and challenging myself ended up being very rewarding indeed.
What was the last book you read?
I don’t like reading……sorry! (laughs)
If you could have supper with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?
My grandfather! Because a lot of time has passed, I have so much to tell him and to see and hear him again will be a dream come true!
Which film have you seen over and over again and enjoyed every time?
Hands down “The Lion King”. The animated version of course!
What would you do if you had enough money and did not need to work?
I would travel the world, experience dancing in South America and start my own fashion studio. I will offer services to help people dress and provide professional makeovers… everything from clothes to makeup and more!
What was the last show you binge-watched?
“The Bold Type” and “Bridgerton”
Imagine you are at karaoke night. What song will you be singing?
Definitely something from the Spice Girls, maybe “If you wanna be my lover”!
Have you ever eaten something strange or unusual? If so, what?
No!
Is there anything you hate doing and if so, why?
Cleaning… I would rather be out enjoying my time off!
Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes
Do you believe in horoscopes?
Yes, I’m a LEO and feel my horoscope is spot-on. It really describes and captures my character as a person.
What advice will you give to someone who wants to become an estate agent?
Invest in yourself, in your time, have patience and when you put your mind to it, your hard work will eventually pay off!
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you that you will never forget?
As a child, I was always curious and up to something and I always thought I had the best ideas. One day, I decided to sell my grandparent’s house right after the façade of the house got repainted! I wrote in BIG, red crayon letters on the façade: “FOR SALE” with MY name and surname and even a contact number. My mother nearly killed me when she saw what I did, but luckily my grandparents found it very funny and they all had a good laugh. I was always trying to sell something, even the flowers from their garden or books from their library …but this time I had the idea to go big or go home. That’s why I tried my luck in selling their house (laughs). My poor grandfather had to paint over the “FOR SALE” wording quite a few times in order for it not to be visible any longer!
What would you like to know more about, but haven’t had the time to look into it?
I would like to learn and know more about how to apply prosthetic makeup!
What is your best advice to younger people starting out in life?
I have gained a lot of experience over the years and learnt a great deal from certain encounters… so my advice to them will be the following: live your life to the max in a good and healthy way, travel loads, spend time with your friends and make memories that will last a lifetime. Also, take care of yourself as you’re only young once. Enjoy this time and don’t grow up too fast. Improve yourself in any way you possibly can through education and also try to learn as much as possible…gain experience in jobs you really like. Work hard towards a goal or a dream you have, always aim high and know your worth.
Would you relive your days in high school if you could?
Yes, I would have but I will choose to study in a different country.
If you had a warning label attached to you, what would it say?
Beware… I speak a lot! (laughs)
Would you like to be a space tourist?
No not really, what if I don’t manage to come back?! (laughs)
What are the ingredients for a good party?
Drinks, good music, dancing all night long with friends and ME because I’m the life of the party! (laughs)
Can you get along without your mobile phone for a weekend?…. and whatever the answer, elaborate?
Not really, as my phone is part of my life. I like replying to my clients as soon as possible and at times I also like to record something fun that I may be doing… to keep as a memory. I also like to regularly check up on my dog by calling my mother to see if he is OK. (laughs)
We hear you love to dance! Tell us more…
Dancing is a part of me and who I am. I even danced when my mother was still pregnant with me! My parents would place a radio speaker close to her tummy and I would just start to kick… and when the music was turned off, I would just stop until it was put back on again! I loved music from the time of being a baby all the way to now being a grownup! I am always the last one on the dance floor and together with my friends always create a mini floor show. I love dancing to reggaeton or a bit of salsa, especially with new people that I’ve just met on a night out. Whenever I hear music, especially Latin American music, I always get up and dance! It makes me really happy and if I don’t get up to dance to it, it’s very frustrating as I feel I am itching and twitching all over, so covid hasn’t really helped hehehe!
