Aaron Borg

Aaron hails from the Frank Salt Real Estate Sliema branch and albeit still in his mid-thirties, is quite an experienced veteran, having literally grown up in the group.

He joined the group 14 years ago and is passionate about property, music, and fitness. With all of the right ingredients in the mix, we can attest to the fact that Aaron personifies the perfect combination of what any successful agent should represent in today’s demanding world of Malta real estate sales: endurance, being clear-headed and determined to get things done, but also have a balance of knowing how to relax and enjoy oneself when it is most needed.

On top of everything going on in his life, he is also currently busy renovating his own property that he bought in Msida, juggling the role of being the site manager for the project in its entirety with that of being a busy agent. We therefore fully understand when he says he can’t wait for the day that the pace of life will slow down a bit upon the completion of his home’s refurbishment… so he can also have some time to pursue his love for music and being a music producer. That will be one party we don’t want to miss, Aaron!

We sat down with him to find out what he is all about and this is what he had to say:

“the adrenaline of closing a sale and seeing the look on a client's face when they get the keys to their new property is like no other."

Who is Aaron in 100 words?

I am an easy, outgoing person with a flair for interior design, fashion, music and art. Quite a fun person might I add! I am very loyal towards those around me. Friends know I am always there to lend them an ear or help them out where I can. I love life and try to enjoy every minute of it. I am always up to meeting new people. I love good company and a night out with delicious – ideally healthy – food and a delicate glass of vino. I am also very passionate about my job as an agent, which I have loved every day of for the past 14 years. It’s a great satisfaction to be able to help people find their forever home or help them make a decision on how to go about acquiring the biggest investment of their life.

What can you tell us about your background and your family?

I was born and raised in Malta and I am the second sibling from a party of five which consists of three brothers and two sisters. I am also an uncle to two beautiful three-year-old girls who are my pride and joy. I’ve also been a cat-daddy for the past 11 years but regretfully my cat passed away very suddenly a few weeks ago.

Tell us some cool facts about any hobbies or other stuff you enjoy doing in your free time?

I am into fitness therefore I am a frequent visitor to the gym and I also love running outdoors. Right now I am fully invested in preparing myself for an upcoming long distance race. I am also very passionate about tech house music and enjoy working out while I listen to it.

Share some details of your academic achievements and work experience with us!

I studied at Boy’s Junior Lyceum Hamrun then attended MCAST Higher Secondary in Naxxar. After school, I became a service express agent at Westin Hotels & Resorts and then a shop assistant at Colours and More in Swatar. This was followed by being a design consultant at Fino in Mriehel, then a design consultant at Bathroom Design in Lija, and finally where I am now as a property consultant at Frank Salt from May 2007.

What attracted you to join the Frank Salt Team?

Frank Salt is a family-run business and it has always been the biggest estate agency in Malta – therefore the choice was pretty obvious if I wanted to grow in this exciting field. During my first few months when I joined, I was given the very best training: the company constantly invests in training courses for consultants whether they are seniors or new recruits. This keeps everyone up to date with the latest selling and letting procedures, market knowledge, skills, and techniques to always improve and add value to the service we provide for all our esteemed clients.

The opportunity to work flexible hours, and not being stuck in an office at all times. Also the opportunity to visit beautiful homes and properties in the most exclusive locations around the island.

If you could have supper with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?

A difficult question which I left for last… I would sit at dinner with my younger self and discuss what I could have done better in my life.

What would you do if you had enough money and did not need to work?

Learn more about music production whilst spending my life traveling.

What was the last show you binge-watched?

Pose

Among your friends, what are you best known for?

Being a perfectionist.

Is there anything that you have a fear of?

All reptiles in general.

Is there anything you dislike doing and if so, why?

House chores, mostly ironing and laundry. Big waste of time.

What would you like to know more about, but haven’t had the time to look into it?

Time permitting, I would love to learn more about DJ-ing and producing electronic music. My end goal is to eventually play in clubs.

What do you think about climate change and global warming?

It is a serious problem and we all have to be the change. We have to act now before it is too late.

What advice will you give to someone who wants to become an estate agent?

This job is not easy but it is very rewarding. It is not good to have the perception that it will be easy money! It requires a lot of hard work, dedication, patience and commitment. It can be very challenging at the same time but at the end of the day it is extremely rewarding. The adrenaline of closing a sale and seeing the look on a client’s face when they get the keys to their new property is like no other.

Can you tell us how your past experience in the hospitality industry has benefited/complemented your role as an agent?

I do my utmost to provide the best customer experience to my clients, both during and after the sales process. This is especially true when I deal with foreign clients and I tend to go into detail about the locations. I explain to them about all the surrounding amenities, history and share general knowledge about the island to make them appreciate Malta more and hopefully make it their first choice when they eventually decide to relocate. It is absolutely fundamental for foreign clients to feel very welcome and at home long before we even start talking about property.

What is the best thing you like about Sliema?

I am in love with the promenade. I am very lucky to face the sea all the time from my office on the Sliema seafront and in winter I go for many long runs on the promenade.

What do you consider as an essential that should always be in your fridge?

Prosecco! You never know when it is time to celebrate.

What would your choice be for the perfect holiday?

Being pampered at a 7-star resort.

What will you do if you have a time machine?

Step into the future as soon as possible! I am looking forward to a future without Covid restrictions and going back to total normality.

What do you think of all the billionaires and their trips into space?

It is a big waste of money which could have been better spent. I think it would be wiser to use the proceeds and feed malnourished children in Africa for example.

My best night out would definitely be during summer, starting with a day on the beach working on my suntan and then followed by an early BBQ dinner, meeting new people afterwards and dancing the rest of the night away in an open-air discotheque till the early hours of the morning.

Name one thing that you regret not having done:
