Jake is part of a new generation of younger agents at Frank Salt Real Estate and works in the Rental Division in St. Julian’s. He’s been there for over three years and enjoys dealing with all his clients, local and foreign. Jake may come across as quiet and reserved but once you break the ice, he turns into a chatterbox and can’t stop talking about his passion for sports, real estate, and his friends.

He once had a VIP client and there was a situation regarding the client’s dog: the apartment that the client chose was not exactly pet-friendly and Jake told the owner of the apartment that the client’s dog was very small as he understood it and that it was called “Champion”. The owner decided to make an exception in this case and allow the small dog to be kept in the rather expensive apartment. Jake then went off to the airport to pick up his clients and their beloved dog and said: “Where’s little Champion?” It is then that a Great Dane was wheeled towards him in a cage! The rather huge “little Champion” ended up in Jake’s car sitting between him and the client, licking his face all the way back to the apartment.

“Take all the negativity and just turn it into positive energy to fuel your succes."

Who is Jake in 100 words?

I have been interested in sports all my life and got involved with basketball when I was only 5 as I was exceptionally tall for my age group. I continued playing basketball until I was about 8 and this was when I had my first taste of football, which has become an absolute passion of mine. I started off as a goalkeeper and I am still a goalkeeper to this day!

What can you tell us about your background and your family?

I am the eldest of 3 siblings, with the other two being twins. I am very close to my father and enjoy watching football matches with him and the younger boys. I cherish the time I get to spend with my mum, especially cooking together when I have an evening free and there are no games on television to watch.

Tell us some cool facts about any hobbies or other stuff you enjoy doing in your free time?

I am a very active and sporty person. I train football 5 times a week and also do some extra training at the gym after work. I also enjoy a dip in the pool every now and then, especially after a heavy workout. It not only nourishes the body but also cleanses the mind.

If you could sit down and share a meal with anyone, who would it be and why?

Grant Cardone - the social media influencer and real estate mogul. It will contribute to my personal growth and I can at the same time also pick up some of his skills and tactics.

Share some details of your academic achievements and work experience with us!

I have my level 4 diploma in sport fitness, and I spent 3 years from the age of 16 to 18 working as a fitness trainer at the Excelsior Hotel. I started working at Frank Salt when I was just 18 years old. It has certainly been a challenge for me as I went from attending lectures to meeting important and very successful people. This has helped me mature into the person I am today.

What attracted you to join the Frank Salt team?

The challenge to grow and challenge myself every day.

Do you think you are a typical Millennial and why?

Yes! Because I’m stable and crazy at the same time!

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

The fact that I get to meet new people every day, all with different characters and qualities. I love the fact that each day I learn something new.

Tell us about any obsessions you have!

I drink at least 3 espressos a day to function it helps me keep active with all the crazy but serious things I have to go through during the day.

What would you do if had enough money and did not need to work?

I would buy an Audi TT and spend most of the year trotting the globe and living life like there is no tomorrow!

What was the last show you binge-watched?

The Good Doctor

Amongst your friends, what are you best known for?

I love pulling pranks on my friends and being the clown of the crew. Having said that, I often fall victim to their very own pranks.

What is the silliest of your fears? Why?

Dying from drowning or falling from a tall building.

Is there anything you hate doing and if so, why?

Telling people the property they liked got rented.

Any stories or incidents you would like to share that happened at work and that you will never forget?

I was at the office working on a Saturday afternoon and it was just I and one of our directors there. He soon left, locking me in…not realizing I was still there! The alarm went off but I was locked in the bathroom so I could not come out and turn it off. It took 20 minutes for the police to arrive and for a colleague to come and open for me (as I had no mobile on me either). Imagine having to explain to the directors (and the police) exactly what I was doing… alone and locked up in the restroom on a Saturday afternoon!

What advice will you give to someone who wants to become an estate agent?

Give it time, work hard and the results will follow.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

I was really late for my football training and I ended up driving my car with my boots still on the roof. I only noticed this when one boot ended up on the windscreen!

What would you like to know more about, but haven’t had the time to look into it?

I would really like to know how stocks work: how to invest in the market and understand the bulls and the bears. I think it’s a very interesting topic.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

A charm bracelet to my mother for her birthday.

What is your best advice to other young people?

Take all the negativity and just turn it into positive energy to fuel your success.

Would you relive your days in high school if you could?

Yes, those were the best times! I would do some things differently , however… but in general, it was a wonderful experience as my old school taught me and nurtured me to acquire the principals I live by today.

Name two things in life that are the most important to you

Happiness and satisfaction.

Would you like to be a space tourist?

Maybe… yes but that’s something for the future.

What are the ingredients for a good party?

Having fun with your friends, making it worth the night out, and taking risks!

Can you get along without your mobile phone for a weekend?

No! I wouldn’t want to imagine my Monday then.]

Can you cook and if so, what?

Yes, I make a mean chicken wrap.

Choose 2 famous people, past or present you would like to spend time with   and tell us why?

Football manager Jose Mourinho and professional footballer and goalkeeper Júlio César… to mostly listen to the challenges they had to face during their careers in football and to see how they managed to achieve so much success in the game.

What will you do if you had a time machine?

Simple – go back and win the lottery, then I would change some of the events that happened during my life that I wish would have a better outcome.

Have you ever met any famous football players?

Yes! My icon, former Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti.
