Here’s our pick of some of the top home makeover shows, because there’s little we love more than a great transformation! Whether you’re looking for a new property in Malta or want to renovate your existing space, there’s nothing like a good renovation show to get the creative juices flowing.
1. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
With 200 episodes, this show had an impressive run and achieved high ratings, pulling at viewers’ heartstrings on a weekly basis. Each episode features a family that is facing some form of hardship and is in need of new hope. The deserving family is sent on a 7-day vacation while designers and crew race against the clock to renovate or completely rebuild their house from scratch.
2. Design on a Dime
As the name implies, HGTV’s “Design on a Dime” brings a much-needed accessibility to the genre of home renovation. Host Casey Noble and her team completely redesign a room with a budget ranging between $1,000-2,500, which requires them to turn to thrift-stores and DIY projects to stretch these limited funds. So if you’re looking to give your property in Malta a stylish makeover without having to break the bank, this is the show for you.
3. Fixer-Upper
Although the title doesn’t leave much to the imagination, what makes this show stand out from the rest is co-hosts and married couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, whose warm and humorous dynamic viewers have fallen in love with. The collaborative couple increase the value of dilapidated houses by transforming them into attractive spaces throughout Texas.
4. HGTV Design Star
A mix of professional interior designers, artists, contractors and stylists are assigned with a space to design and create, using unconventional items. The large personalities face unique challenges (alone or in teams) in the hopes of impressing the judges enough to avoid being eliminated at the end of every episode. The winner of this fast-paced, addictive series gets their own HGTV show.
5. The Great Interior Design Challenge
This show aims to find “Britain’s best amateur interior designers,” whose main challenge is to redesign a room in 3 days according to the client’s brief, without exceeding £1,000. They must impress both judges and homeowners to avoid the risk of being sent home. Viewers get to see different locations in England and learn about the distinctive form of architecture featured in each episode.
