Over the last few years Malta and its property market have recorded a remarkable increase in interest from the Scandinavian countries, particularly from Sweden. This is in part thanks to ongoing marketing initiatives undertaken by Frank Salt Real Estate and a number of other local real estate agencies to promote Malta’s attraction to foreign nationals.

Frank Salt Real Estate has been a pioneer in investing in this market and 2011 will be no exception. Throughout February, March and April, the company has in fact embarked on a major road show titled flyttatillmalta (move to Malta) and to date it has already participated in three national property exhibitions and has also organised several private seminars in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. The latter were attended by a number of Managers from Frank Salt Real Estate, mainly George Vassallo, Sliema Branch manager and Nick Bilocca, Marketing Manager. They were accompanied by EMD Advocates and other Frank Salt Real Estate’s Swedish associates.

The seminars also saw the participation of a number of Swedish legal firms, in particular Deloitte & Touche. Malta’s consulates and Malta’s Chargé d’Affaires for Scandinavia Ms Deborah Attard Montaldo opened the events.

‘We believe greatly in the potential of the Swedish market’ said Joseph Lupi, Managing Director for Frank Salt Real Estate, ‘With a total attendance over 10,000 visitors at the exhibitions and circa 200 persons at the seminars, these property fairs have confirmed that Malta’s appeal within the Scandinavian nationals is very positive. And with all that Malta has to offer, particularly our climate and natural heritage, our lifestyle and an active and healthy economy, I don’t blame them! Many are also keen to move here permanently, often taking up the Ordinary or Permanent Resident schemes. The latter is currently being reviewed and as such many clients are really eager on finding out what the new regulations governing this scheme will entail.’

The company’s international reach does not stop with Sweden, but extends throughout Europe and beyond. In fact, in the first quarter of 2011, Frank Salt Real Estate has also participated in exhibitions in London as well as in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg in South Africa. It has also appointed new associates in France, Ukraine, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Bulgaria amongst others.
