Meet our people – Joshua Bajada
We spoke to Joshua Bajada of Frank Salt Real Estate’s Commercial Division. We asked this Young Gun about his life and what drives him.
When we spoke to Joshua from FSRE’s Commercial Division, our first impression was that he looks and sounds like a famous tenor or baritone. With his outgoing personality and friendly demeanour, we have been told by his peers that he can make beautiful music when it comes to commercial property dealings and negotiations! All things opera aside, we took some time to get to know him better.
“Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today”
Joshua is part of a new breed of professionals in real estate: a generation where some have loads of experience in management while others have completed formal degrees… but all of them have one thing in common: an iron will to succeed and tackle the challenges of this competitive industry. This is what he had to say:
Q: Can you tell us briefly about your background and your family?
“I am born and bred in Valletta and have 3 children: Jael, Jordi & Jude. I live with my partner”
Wow, growing up in a World Heritage Site and to top this off, Joshua now also has the dream family… we are full of envy!
Q: Tell us some cool facts about any hobbies you may have and of any participation in sport?
“I am an avid reader and am especially keen for biographies, current affairs and international politics. I also follow sports and I am a Milan and Valletta City supporter – I love going abroad watching my team.”
With all that reading, no wonder he is on top of his game when it comes to commercial property dealings…this is someone in the know!
Q: And now fill us in on some details of your academic achievements and work experience!
“I spent 20 years in cargo operations at Malta Freeport followed by 2 years heading operations and customer relationship in one of Malta’s leading health & safety consultancy companies. More recently, I took the plunge and got into real estate, with a focus on commercial property.”
Joshua sounds like the man we all need when there is a crisis and the logistics needs sorting out!
Q: Now what attracted you to embark on a career in real estate?
“I wanted to apply the business acumen that I had gathered over the years in a job where my success depends entirely on my initiative, persistence and perseverance.”
We could not have said it better ourselves!
Q: What do you enjoy most so far about your job?
“Working in the commercial property market is a challenge in itself. I love the fact that every client’s needs are different from the other: diversity comes with every request…this is not a routine or a repetitive job. Fulfilling a client’s requests is like a jigsaw puzzle – I love the matchmaking, especially when you see the satisfied look on their faces.”
As we know, dealing in property is finding the exact fit for the pieces of the puzzle… it is like a marriage between the property and the client. Joshua sounds like the perfect master of ceremonies to us!
Q: What do you aim to achieve as a real estate agent and what are your goals or objectives?
“Widen my network, establish mutual respect and nurture repeat clients.”
From what we know so far, Joshua is well on his way!
Q: Tell us what you think of FSRE and the team you work with!
“AWESOME! Not only do you receive very good induction training full of motivation and personal development tips, but regular brainstorming to ensure that clients’ requests are being met in the most effective way. There is an open-door policy at all levels including with managers and this makes you feel at ease and that they have the time for you. The group has a very strong work ethic.”
Guess who we are getting to drive our next series of recruitment campaigns with these wise words?
Q: If you won the lotto, what would you do with the money?
“Invest in real estate and help out charitable institutions.”
We see the makings of a very honourable and charitable patron here! We are holding thumbs for that big win!
Q: What is your dream car?
“Rather than a dream car, I will tell you what I would like my next car to be…. the Range Rover Evoque”
A sensible, practical, beautiful and stylish choice for Malta’s demanding roads!
Q: What advice will you give to someone who wants to become an estate agent?
“Go for it! I wish I had gone for it before.”
You heard the man… get your CV’s on the ready!
Q: Any embarrassing moment you would like to share?
“At the airport I picked up what was supposedly my luggage…only to realise a couple of hours later when I got to the hotel, that the luggage wasn’t mine! The porter emptied everybody’s luggage and I found myself standing looking at the only bag left…only to realise that I had picked up somebody else’s luggage from the airport’s conveyor belt.”
We guarantee this is a favourite ice-breaker at dinner parties and besides, has this not also (nearly) happened to you, dear readers?
Q: What did you find to be the best and worst of the lockdown?
Best: “Appreciate more the value of life and your dear ones. “
We can say you absolutely speak for all of us!
We asked him for an inspiring quote he would like to share with us:
