From September 2021, South Africans in possession of a vaccination certificate approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) can enter Malta without the need to quarantine.
The accepted vaccines include AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (Spikevax) and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).
Malta has become a firm favourite among South Africans as a holiday and safe relocation destination. They find themselves at home from day one when visiting the islands: as many of them say, “Malta is baie lekker!” Many have moved to Malta permanently, either for work, retirement or through acquiring citizenship. Residency in Malta offers a pleasant climate, safe environment and hospitable English-speaking population, as well as a range of benefits to individuals seeking to acquire residence on the island, given its advantageous tax regime and competitive cost of living.
