Local Living: Bahar ic-Caghaq
Bahar ic-Caghaq is situated between the limits of Madliena, Maghtab, Gharghur and Pembroke and its name is literally translated to ‘sea of pebbles’ in English. The town is named so due to the long stretch of rocky coast with plenty of rocks and pebbles all along.
Bahar ic-Caghaq has a population of approximately 1250 people and in the last 15 years. However, there has been plenty of land development in the area which has led to an increase of property purchases in the area.
The area was mostly known for a tourist complex that was very popular amongst foreigners, namely the White Rocks complex. However, this complex fell into a state of disrepair and was relatively abandoned. A number of proposals have been put forward since but there has been little progress regarding this development.
There are a variety of bars and restaurants in Bahar ic-Caghaq, as well as the Splash and Fun Waterpark and a marine centre- Mediterranaeo Fun Park. Therefore, Bahar ic-Caghaq still remains a popular destination amongst tourists and locals alike.
