Property in the Three Cities

properties in the 3 cities

Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea, commonly referred to as Malta’s Three Cities, are situated on the other side of the Grand Harbour from Valletta and offer some excellent properties for sale and to let. They are a very suitable option for foreign nationals moving to Malta who wish to own a piece of Maltese history. Property in the Three Cities is ideal both as potential spaces to live in or retire to, and for rental investment and property security potential.

Originally known as Birgu, Bormla and Isla, the three walled towns retain most of their past architectural glory and can rightly claim to be the cradle of Maltese history. They offer a fascinating glimpse into Malta’s maritime history, with the harbour inlets having been in use since the Phoenician times and having provided a home and fortress to almost every people who settled on the Islands throughout the centuries. Nowadays, the Harbour is the destination of luxury yachts and includes one of Malta’s best-known marinas.

The three cities were also the first home to the Knights of St. John, when the Order settled in Malta in the sixteenth century, and thanks to their legacy, they are today adorned with a myriad of palaces, churches, forts and bastions, most far older than Valletta’s. Over the past two decades the area has been undergoing a revival in popularity and the three cities are now brimming with open spaces and pedestrian areas, exclusive restaurants, wine bars, and museums. Everything is within walking distance, and what’s more, they offer foreign nationals the possibility to truly experience the strong sense of community that prevails, and to experience life the Maltese way. All this makes property in the Three Cities very attractive places to live in, or to invest in property.
