Year Overview – The Year of 2013

Looking at past news, initiatives and milestones, we see where we have been, what we have done and hopefully also find some inspiration for things to come. It is beneficial for anyone to celebrate these past events of note, as it provides us with a roadmap of the steps we have taken to not only learn more, but to improve ourselves and to evolve to where we are today. We hope you will all enjoy this summary of the Year that was 2013!

Highlights of 2013

Property Seminars Held by Frank Salt Real Estate in the UK

In the last few months of 2013, Malta and its property market registered a tremendous increase in interest from European countries, particularly from Western Europe and the UK. The Maltese economy fared well and was one of the few countries within the EU that registered a positive growth in GDP for 2012.

Frank Salt Real Estate and its sister company Homes of Quality took an aggressive role in promoting Maltese property overseas in 6 major European countries during the last three months of the year. Of notable interest was the amount of enquiries regarding investment properties.

High profile seminars were held in London, organised jointly with partners Blevins Franks and John Huber & Associates.

Frank Salt Real Estate Took on Sliema ASC for a Water Polo Match

Who said that property consultants are not good sports? As part of a team building exercise, members of the Frank Salt Real Estate team took up a challenge that saw them trying their hand at water polo – against the Sliema ASC committee members! The Frank Salt Real Estate team fell just short of securing a winning game in the last few minutes.

The Frank Salt Real Estate team consisted of Edward Aquilina, Ludwig Farrugia, Jonathan Sammut, Patrick Xuereb, Dylan Micallef, Leonard Grech, Grahame Salt, Nicole Cremona, Jake Decesare and Michael Rizzo. The game was organised by Frank Salt Real Estate’s Marketing Division.

The year also saw the company taking up the main sponsorship of Sliema ASC Water Polo Club.

New Letting Division Manager for Frank Salt Real Estate Ltd

Philippa Tabone was appointed head of the Letting Department at Frank Salt Real Estate. Having worked as a consultant at several of its branches since 2008, she is a firm believer in team work and the values of the company. In addition, she acquired valuable experience in the rental property market prior to this. With an insight of marketing and communications, she also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Malta and in 2011 she played a key role in the company being awarded the title of “Best Lettings Agency in Europe” as awarded by the organisers of the annual International Property Awards.

Frank Salt Real Estate Team Practiced their Survival Skills on Comino

A group of over 60 employees, consultants and family members of Frank Salt Real Estate took part in a number of unique outdoor sport and adventure activities as part of the company’s on-going team building programmes.

The aim of the event was to engage participants away from their offices and day-to-day roles, while encouraging them to get to know each other better and to try their hand at some unusual outdoor activities. Teams were given a rendezvous point at Marfa, little knowing that they would end up on the sister island for a day of surprises and a combination of mental and physical exercises.

“Survivor” was the chosen theme for that year’s activities and it was organized in association with Outdoorliving Ltd.

Frank Salt Real Estate Announced Winners of Fashion Awards Red Carpet Competition

Frank Salt Real Estate announced the names of the lucky winners who took part in a fashion photography competition organised by the company at the Vodafone Red Malta Fashion Awards in May of 2013. Rebecca Cuschieri won the first prize winner with Nadine Scicluna and Jade Cini coming in second and third respectively.

The fashion competition was complemented by an online promotional campaign on Facebook through which participants who visited Frank Salt Real Estate’s red carpet stand at the fashion awards, could have their photo taken “diva style”.  The photos which had the largest number of Facebook LIKES and SHARES within a set time, were crowned as the winning entries.

The initiative proved to be very popular with some 250 eager entrants. Rebecca and Andre Cauchi’s winning entry received just under 2000 LIKES and SHARES!

This was the first time that Frank Salt Real Estate participated at the Malta Fashion Week and the company was also a main sponsor for an exhibition by Heritage Malta entitled “Jewellery through the Times”.

New Manager for Frank Salt Real Estate’s Property Management Division

Bronia Mercieca was appointed to lead the Property Management Division at Frank Salt Real Estate.

Bronia has a background in both the public and private sector. Her previous experience included a position with Enemalta Corporation where she assisted senior management of the Corporation and she also held a key role with one of Malta’s main wineries. Her extensive work experience was supported through a Diploma in Management from the Institute of Leadership and Management (UK).

Frank Salt Announced 5-Year Strategy Plan

Frank Salt Real Estate enjoyed a successful 2013 and the company’s management announced a strategic 5-year plan for the business. Measures announced by the company were initiatives to open a number of additional branches in strategic places in Malta and also substantial invest in attracting foreign property investment.

Of particular focus was the interest in commercial property, with planned augmentation to the staff complement of up to 50% from its then current levels. In addition, on-going training was to be implemented to boost Frank Salt Real Estate’s leading position in the local market.

An increase in remuneration packages across the board was also announced, with the introduction of several initiatives aimed at attracting new property consultants.
