Highlights of 2011
Frank Salt opens its 11th Branch
Frank Salt Real Estate opened its 11th office in Malta dedicated to Residential Letting and Commercial Property at 212 Tower Road, Sliema and also appointed of a number of new managers and property consultants. The manager was Joseph G. Pace.
Greater Presence from The Swedish Market
Growing interest from the Scandinavian countries, particularly from Sweden was due to ongoing initiatives and promotions undertaken by Frank Salt Real Estate to promote Malta’s attraction to foreign nationals. Being a pioneer in this market, the company already participated in two national property exhibitions and a number of seminars in Stockholm and in Gothenburg, entitled “Living Abroad”.
The event attracted over 7,000 visitors from all over, even visitors from Finland, Norway and Denmark. The exhibitions were hosted by Douglas Salt and George Vassallo together with EMD Advocates and Frank Salt Real Estate’s Swedish representatives. At this time, more initiatives targeting the Swedish market were in the pipeline.
Frank Salt Real Estate Embarks On International Road Show
A remarkable increase in interest from the Scandinavian countries, particularly from Sweden was seen at this time. Throughout February, March and April 2011 the company embarked on a major road show titled “flyttatillmalta” (move to Malta) with three national property exhibitions and private seminars in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. In attendance were George Vassallo, Nick Bilocca. They were accompanied by EMD Advocates and other Frank Salt Real Estate’s Swedish associates. Malta’s Chargé d’Affaires for Scandinavia, Ms Deborah Attard Montaldo opened the events.
In the first quarter of 2011, Frank Salt Real Estate also participated in exhibitions in London, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg in South Africa. It also appointed new associates in France, Ukraine, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Bulgaria.
Expansion works at St Julians branch
In 2010 the company opened its 11th office, dedicated to Residential Letting and Commercial Properties, located on the Sliema seafront. Further expansion was planned for the year, including the opening of another branch close to Spinola Bay in St Julians, as well as extension works at the Marsascala branch.
St Julians was extended, taking over the adjoining property. The extension works commenced in May and once completed, the St Julians Sales office boasted a state-of-the-art, designer-finished environment, complete with the latest ITC innovations. Special care was taken to ensure that the old and new section of the premises holistically merge into one, amalgamating several elements from the old part of the office into the new look, resulting in perfect harmony and consistency with the other branches operated by Frank Salt Real Estate.
Frank Salt Real Estate Secretaries Go Ghost Hunting In Birgu!
A ghost hunting event was organised with the assistance of Malta ghost ‘connoisseur’ Charmaine Bugeja. Moving from the rendezvous point at the Cottonera Waterfront, the evening proved to be very interesting as the group were guided through the winding streets of Birgu and told many a tale of this historic city. What aroused most discussions, giggles, laughter, and also a few shrills, were the legends of the ghosts that ‘live’ in this old city. Unexplained happenings of things found out of place, French soldiers conversing in an alley, Private Thomas Mc Sweeney giving directions in the Birgu cemetery and orbs that appear in derelict houses were just a few of the accounts that sent shivers down everyone’s spines.
The evening finished off in a local restaurant with snacks and a glass of wine to celebrate teamwork and great colleagues.
Letting Team travels to Rome
The letting team of Frank Salt Real Estate returned from a holiday break in Rome, Italy, compliments of the company. This initiative was a reward for being selected as the Best Office Branch for 2010, an annual award that Frank Salt Real Estate adjudicates to recognise and reward specific consultants and employees who would have made an extra effort during that year.
Sites such as Fontana di Trevi, Porta Portese, the Coliseum, Rome’s popular piazzas as well as various art exhibits and museums were visited.
Business Delegation To South Africa
Frank Salt Real Estate visited South Africa between the 15th and 20th March with the scope of establishing better contacts within the local business community and increasing awareness on the Maltese islands and as part of a business delegation organised by Malta Enterprise. Presentations were held in Durban and Cape Town to representatives from real estate companies, financial firms and local manufactures. Between the 14th and 16th April Frank Salt Real Estate were also present at the International Property Expo and Conference taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre Ballroom in Johannesburg.
The decision to partake in the delegation was due to the strong increase in demand by South Africans looking at taking up residency and acquiring property in Malta and Gozo.
Leaving our mark at the Ta’ Qali National Park
As part of its on-going activities to commemorate our 40th anniversary, Frank Salt Real Estate celebrated 40 successful years of operations in real estate by planting 40 trees. The trees were planted at Ta Qali as part of the 34U National Forestation Project.
“Forty years is a very important milestone for our company,” Mr Joseph Lupi, then Managing Director, said. “It is very appropriate that our company planted 40 trees to commemorate our 40th anniversary because our company started off in a very small way, just like a very small tree that grows, and now after 40 years the company employs over 80 people.” Mr Frank Salt, the founder and Chairman added: “Our company has grown and blossomed just as we hope the trees we have planted at The Ta’ Qali National Park will blossom and remain doing so for many years to come.”

Letting Division Manager Edward Hamilton gave his commitment to the cause by inviting his team for an afternoon of voluntary work which included donating over 200kgs of dog food, cleaning kennels, fixing pens and doing other odd jobs.
The Frank Salt Letting team left after 6 hours of hard work and were looking forward to their next visit!
A very busy year ahead for the Overseas Division
2011 was a record year for Frank Salt Real Estate’s overseas promotion, participating in just under 20 property exhibitions and seminars held in China, some Scandinavian countries, South Africa, the UK and several others. 2012 was predicted to be no different, with the company then looking at attending a business delegation in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates with an additional number of business road shows in various other countries.
During 2011 turmoil in Libya, the Euro crises and the global recession dampened spirits a bit, however the company still believed that the market held excellent potential.
Frank Salt Real Estate has always been on the forefront where it comes to foreign buyers and still regularly participates in overseas events and exhibitions.
